Natural is welcome when it performs. Lab-made is welcome when it is safer, more stable, or less wasteful. We choose by function, not category. "Clean" is an exclusion list. "Natural" is an origin story. Neither tells you whether an ingredient actually works. And neither accounts for what natural ingredients can cost the planet: monoculture farming, biodiversity loss, supply chains that damage the ecosystems they depend on.

Skin performs best when its core systems are intact.
