TRP's (Transient Receptor Potential Channels), play a critical role in our perception of pain.

This complex network of nerves and receptors throughout our bodies can be activated by multiple types of stimuli simultaneously, such as temperature and mechanical force.

HOW CAPSAICIN effects these molecular sensors

  • ACTIVATION - Capsaicin, the compound found in chili peppers, is a potent activator of TRPV1, a heat-sensitive TRP channel.
  • COUNTER-IRRITATION - The initial burning sensation caused by capsaicin can be interpreted by the brain as more intense than the underlying pain, distracting the brain from the original pain, providing temporary relief.
  • DESENSITIZATION -The repeated exposure to capsaicin makes the TRPV1 channels less responsive to subsequent stimuli. This can lead to a reduction in pain perception.

The luxurious rich thermal relief cream is formulated in the vein of a traditional Chinese DIT DA JOW, a herbal preparation lauded by martial artists in China for centuries. Capsaicin and a combination of devil's claw and white willow bark team up to deliver a warming relief and to soothe and relax muscles after workouts or post injury.

The proprietary blend of essential oils support the active ingredients with grounding vetiver, anti-inflammatory copaiba and invigorating ginger, layered between amber and sweet orange. A warm velvety scent profile.

Depending on the size of the body parts to be treated and the severity of the symptoms, apply generously, do not rub. Do not use on open wounds or around the eyes. Use only on intact skin. Wash hands well after use.
If irritation occurs discontinue use immediately.

TIPS, TRICKS + PROTOCOLS FROM OUR SPA

In a groundbreaking discovery recognized by the 2021 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, David Julius and Ardem Patapoutian identified critical receptors responsible for our sense of temperature and touch. These previously unknown receptors, called TRP's, play a fundamental role in how we perceive the world around us. TOUCH and TEMPERATURE being among the most important.

TRP channels act as molecular sensors, detecting stimuli that cause pain. Understanding how they play a critical role in our perception helps us implement modalities and products in our treatments.

ICY-HOT

THE COMPOUNDED EFFECT

The combined result of capsaicin and menthol can provide a synergistic effect. The initial cooling sensation from the capsaicin is offset by the warming sensation of the menthol and the combined activation of the TRVP1 and TRPM8 channels may lead to a more potent and sustained effect.
