The Full Vitamin C Protocol
Three products. Water-soluble, emulsified, and lipid-soluble vitamin C in the correct sequence. A trio that slots into any routine and covers every layer a single product cannot reach.
No single vitamin C product, regardless of concentration, can deliver vitamin C to every layer of the skin. The skin has both water-phase and lipid-phase architecture, and a water-soluble vitamin C cannot meaningfully penetrate the lipid-phase layers — and vice versa. Most vitamin C routines address one zone and leave the others untreated. The Full Vitamin C Protocol addresses all three.

Three products. Applied in sequence after your usual cleanse and essence, slotting into whatever routine you already have. C Serum's ethyl ascorbic acid works in the water phase — surface brightening, hydrophilic layers, niacinamide barrier support. C-Microemulsion bridges the gap: emulsified vitamin C at the boundary between water and lipid phases, rebuilding collagen and rebalancing tone in the zone neither of the others can fully reach. And Protect Oil's THD ascorbate operates in the lipid phase — deep penetration, illumination, antioxidant seal.
The trio works as a standalone finishing sequence after serums, or as a direct replacement for your existing moisturiser and finishing oil. Three steps. Under three minutes. The kind of vitamin C coverage that was previously only achievable in a treatment room.
Each product in the Basic Ritual is housed in our low-waste, aluminum-first packaging system. Housed in a 100% plastic-free aluminum tube with an aluminum cap, designed for full recyclability and reduced environmental impact. Outer carton is FSC-certified and printed with vegetable-based inks.
INSIDE THE FULL VITAMIN C PROTOCOL
Water-Soluble Vitamin C — Phase One
The entry point of the system and the daily anchor. C Serum's ethyl ascorbic acid — stable, deeply penetrating, and significantly less irritating than traditional L-ascorbic acid — addresses the water-phase layers of the skin where daily brightening, antioxidant protection, and niacinamide-supported barrier strengthening are most immediately needed. Applied after your essence or directly after cleansing, it is the foundation on which C-Microemulsion and Protect Oil build. The results compound over four to eight weeks; this is also the step you notice most immediately if you skip it.
Emulsified Vitamin C — The Bridge
The step most vitamin C routines are missing entirely. C-Microemulsion's emulsified vitamin C works at the boundary between the water and lipid phases — the middle zone that C Serum cannot fully reach from above and Protect Oil cannot fully reach from below. It rebuilds collagen and rebalances tone in this intermediate layer, while blueberry extract provides quiet blue light protection as an added benefit. Gentle enough for vitamin C–sensitive skin. Applied after C Serum and before Protect Oil, it is what makes this genuinely three-phase rather than two products applied in proximity.
Lipid-Soluble THD Ascorbate — Phase Three
The final step and the deepest phase. THD ascorbate is a fat-soluble vitamin C derivative that penetrates the lipid matrix where water-soluble forms cannot go — brightening hyperpigmentation, supporting collagen synthesis, and providing antioxidant protection at depth. Sea buckthorn CO₂, rosehip, and blueberry complete the profile. Applied last, Protect Oil also seals the hydration and vitamin C work done in the phases beneath it and produces the luminosity that is the visible signature of the full system at capacity. It also works pressed onto the cheekbones as a finishing highlight, which is not its primary purpose but is worth knowing.
HOW TO USE
The trio slots directly into your existing routine after serums and before SPF.
- Step 1: C Serum — Apply a pearl-sized amount after your essence or on freshly cleansed skin. Pat gently over face, neck, and décolleté. Allow to absorb — 30–60 seconds.
- Step 2: C-Microemulsion — Apply a pearl-sized amount over C Serum. A light, even layer. Allow to absorb before the next step.
- Step 3: Protect Oil — Warm a pearl-sized amount between fingertips and press into face, neck, and décolleté as the final step.
Morning: Follow with Shield Primer SPF 35+ to protect the vitamin C investment. The combination of vitamin C at every depth plus mineral SPF is the most complete daily brightening and protection stack in the range.
Evening: The trio is safe to use nightly. C Serum should not be used on the same evening as Renew PM (retinaldehyde) — but Protect Oil's lipid-soluble THD ascorbate is fully compatible with Renew PM and features in the Overnight Renewal Protocol for exactly that reason. On Renew PM evenings, use Protect Oil alone as your finishing step and skip C Serum and C-Microemulsion.
C Serum: A pearl-sized amount. Always include neck and décolleté.
C-Microemulsion: A pearl-sized amount. A light, even layer is sufficient.
Protect Oil: A pearl-sized amount. Press and pat — do not rub.
C Serum: Featherlight water-based gel. Absorbs instantly, zero pilling.
C-Microemulsion: A light, non-occlusive moisturiser. Bridges cleanly between C Serum and Protect Oil without heaviness.
Protect Oil: Silky, cushiony oil-gel. Non-greasy, radiant finish.
C Serum: A soft, natural citrus from pure citrus essential oils.
C-Microemulsion: An elegant blend of bergamot and red grapefruit, layered with ripe peach, apricot, and warm tonka bean.
Protect Oil: Meyer lemon blossom, night-blooming jasmine, and clary sage.
TIPS FROM THE SPA
C Serum before C-Microemulsion before Protect Oil is the architecture of the skin's absorption hierarchy — water-based before emulsified before oil-phase. Reversing the order means applying a film that occludes the layers beneath it before they've received what they need. Three minutes in the right order outperforms any amount of product in the wrong one.
C-Microemulsion is a light moisturiser. Protect Oil is a finishing oil. Used together after C Serum, the trio effectively replaces two steps most people already have in their routine — with the addition of three-phase vitamin C coverage at no extra time cost. For those who currently use a separate moisturiser and oil, the simplest upgrade is to swap them both for this sequence.
For post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, sun-induced discolouration, or melasma-adjacent patterns that haven't responded to single-product approaches, three-phase vitamin C delivery is the correct escalation. Pigmentation exists at multiple skin depths; most topicals address one. This system addresses all three simultaneously, morning and evening.
Protect Oil's THD ascorbate is lipid-soluble and pH-neutral — it works in the lipid matrix at a different depth to where the hydroxysome-encapsulated retinaldehyde releases, which is why the two are genuinely compatible. C Serum is water-soluble and surface-active, which is why it doesn't belong on the same evening as Renew PM. The practical rule: on retinal nights, finish with Protect Oil alone.
Frequently Asked Questions
The trio contains C Serum, C-Microemulsion, and Protect Oil — three products delivering vitamin C in distinct phases (water-soluble, emulsified, lipid-soluble) that together achieve coverage no single product can provide. The trio is designed to slot into any existing routine after serums.
Because the skin has both water-phase and lipid-phase architecture, and vitamin C molecules cannot cross between these phases. C Serum reaches the hydrophilic layers; Protect Oil's THD ascorbate reaches the lipid-phase layers; C-Microemulsion bridges the zone between them. No single product — regardless of concentration — delivers effective vitamin C to all three zones.
After cleansing and any essence or treatment serums, apply C Serum, then C-Microemulsion, then Protect Oil as your final step before SPF. If you currently use a separate moisturiser and finishing oil, the trio replaces both while adding meaningful brightening coverage at each layer.
Yes — all three are formulated for daily use. The one evening exception: on nights when Renew PM is used, skip C Serum and C-Microemulsion and use Protect Oil alone as the finishing step. Protect Oil's lipid-soluble THD ascorbate is compatible with retinaldehyde; C Serum's water-soluble form is not.
Immediate luminosity from Protect Oil is visible from the first application. Meaningful brightening and pigmentation correction develop over four to eight weeks of consistent daily use, as the vitamin C coverage at every skin depth begins to compound. The collagen support and deeper renewal benefits continue to build beyond that.
